Default Troll farming build (with pics)

this one shows my attributes and weapons. i believe these to be most effective mods for this farm. sundering could probably be replaced by a vamp mod however.

this one is my alternate shield, in case i want some extra hp, for instance, if i have to die while powerleveling because my customer may have inadvertly died, and i have to work with DP. i get to -30% DP, i'll put this shield on. again, this is solely based on me having to work with a powerlevel client who died because they didnt listen. with this build, you won't/can't die on your own

this one shows how many trolls you can tank. i count 19 in this one, but i've counted 20 in other pics before. this one also shows dmg from Cyclone Axe, as Shane said, usually between 30-40hp.

this one shows the dmg reduction with a good shield, with a -2 mod, and +10 AL vs trolls or blunt dmg (since their attacks are blunt dmg) those 6-14 dmgs are usually 10-20 with a clean shield. AL vs blunt dmg also helps when they hit you with their Mighty Blow attack, which averages about 40 hit points on me now, versus about 60 with a clean shield. you can obviously get more dmg reduction if you have a +7 shelter mod on your axe and bring along Watch Yourself or Dolyak Signet, but i prefer more offensive mods and skills to make it go quicker. this pic also shows the strength of Executioners strike, which hit for 70hp this time. sometimes sundering kicks in, and having your axe mastery very high also gives you more chances for critical hits.

once i found out this build, i LOVE troll farming. being able to solo it and getting all drops, this is my now most efficient farm. (since ectos and shards dont drop for me much going in UW groups, soloing FOW, trapping, SSing, or BP ranger, monking, MMing for greens, etc). if you cant tell from pics, the skill bar consists of:

1. Cyclone Axe
2. Executioners Strike (helps take down boss alot quicker)
3. Sprint (for getting past aggro before troll cave, can be replaced if u choose to kill stuff on way to troll cave)
4. Gladiators Defense
5. Bonnettis Defense
6. Vigorous Spirit
7. Mending (can be replaced with a defense skill like Dolyak or Watch Yourself if you choose)
8. Live Vicariously (can probably be replaced with something as well, as most your healing will come from Vig Spirit/Cyclone, but this one is nice to have)

step by step, what i do is:

1. put on Mending, then Live Vicariously after energy has recharged
2. Sprint past Avicara, (or you can kill them with this build also, but no efficient for time sake, or Powerleveling) and head to troll cave
3. get a good aggro group (20 is the max amount of trolls possible in the cave, excluding Wuump boss and his 2 trolls. you can usually get between 17-20 trolls gathered at once)
4. once in aggro, i target the boss, Smush, since he takes longest to take down, then cast Glads Defense, followed by Vigorous Spirit, then Cyclone Axe.
5. between Cyclone axe recharging, i got time for one hit of Executioners strike on the boss
6. then one more hit of Cyclone before Glads D runs out
7. from here, cast Bonnettis, then Cyclone axe, and keep trading off until Glads D is recharged, then repeat steps 3 through 6. however, i recommend not using Cyclone axe until Bonnettis is almost recharged again. if they disrupt Cyclone and you have nothin to cover you (like Glads D or Bonnettis), you will die very fast in a big group. however, if Bonnettis is only 2 hits or less away from being recharged and they disrupt cyclone, then you can simply stay alive by being covered in Bonnettis and Glads D, if u have a decent shield that is. as long as your Bonnetti's last 10 seconds, it will be recharged by the time you need to reapply it again just by attacking.

any questions, comments or suggestions are welcome. happy farming and God bless

Never seen a flurry build before for trolls. I might try this out if I can really be bothered (I'm lazy) Most of the skills are average, nice though, looks good overall.

Btw, this is post number 100!! Yay for me. I'm changing my avatar from me in my 15k gladiator's armor to me in my 15k dragon armor!! Yay, i'm rich and i'm happy

In my opinion, the Tripple Chop axe build works much faster than any Gladiators Defense build. I can kill the trolls with tripple chop and cyclone axe very fast. I now use a 55 monk when ever I fancy a bit of troll farming but still this is fun sometimes.
I use a vampiric axe of shelter, very good for getting health up and the shelter gives a slight armor boost.

For troll farming as a w/mo what would be the safest build to use? I want to become a legendary survivor and I guess farming trolls would be the best way to gain some experience with the least possibility of death.

I have prophecies and factions.

I would be guessing, using either glads defense with a sword and ripostes. Or maybe the new axe build using triple chop and cyclone with bonetti's and dolyak signet.

a few updates yall, as i've made this much better.

1. changed out Healing Breeze for Sprint (never need Healing Breeze, even if Cyclone gets disrupted, you can stay alive with Bonnettis and Glads D, long enough for it to recharge. which is another reason i think Glads D is alot better than taking Triple Chop). Sprint is necessary for pulling avicara and groups from out the front of Troll cave to make a clear path for anyone you're powerleveling.

2. switched out Flurry for Mending. Mending is not really necessary, but its nice, specially when gathering a tricky aggro, and having to run back and forth. with 2 enchants on, there is no energy regen, but you get it back VERY quickly when using Bonnettis

3. changed the Zealous hilt on my axe to 20/19 sundering, since, as you can see from number two, you dont need any energy other than Bonnettis, and the sundering helps take em down quicker

with these updates, i became the fastest powerleveler i've ever seen or heard of, gauranteeing a level every 5 minutes.

oh, and 4. i put on a superior axe run, bumped it up to 15, healing at 8, tactics at 11, and strength at 8 or 9. since health is not a problem, but this also helps kill faster.

Some builds Ive read have no runes on the armour,is this unusal??.
I`m in bad need of some dosh, after just forking out for glads armour .
Thanks.

I like my build better

Cyclone Axe
Penetrating Blow
Executioners Strike
Bonetti's defence
Galdiator's defence {E}
Shield Stance
Vigorous Spirit
Strength of Honor

Attributes are:

axe mastery - 8+3
Tactics - 12+3+1
Smiting - 6
Healing - 6

1. Activate strength of honor as soon as you enter the map
2. once everything is aggroed, activate Glads and then vig spirit.
3. target a boss and cycle: cyclone -> penetrate -> exectutioner
4. once Glads defense endes, activate shield stance and use the same cycle.
5. After shield stance ends, activate glads again and vigerous, since it will be running out by now.
6. Once gladiators ends, use bonetties, cyclone, bonettis, cyclone etc. and Glads recharges again

by this time, everything should be dead, you'll be dealing around 30-40 damage each cyclone axe, up into the 50's with penetrating and executioner.

Weapon:

Zealous (blank) of Enchanting
-2 stance shield

after reading the Strength thread, i bumped my Axe mastery back up to 16, tacs at 13, healing at 8, 4 left over in strength, since i only use Sprint. also got a sup vigor rune since, lol... oh, and i figured out the mystery of what kinda dmg trolls do. its blunt damage! :-) i experimented with clean shields, sheild w/ armor vs trolls, shield w/ armor vs slashing, and a shield w/ armor vs blunt, and blunt came out on top. armor vs trolls works the same for they regular attacks, but armor vs blunt also brings down they Mighty Blow attack lower than w/ armor vs trolls shield. so i got a +10 AL vs blunt/ -2 in stance shield. :-) beautiful. ;-) i'll have to get new pics of all this up soon, since i've changed build since first pics ;-)

Hm... Like griffons, Trolls are farmable with only 5 skills..

Cyclonic Axe
Bonetti's Defense
Vigorous Spirit
Gladiator's Defense
Live Vicarously.

13 or more tactics
10 healing
rest to axe mastery.
